The Chakra System
By c0verst0ry
I’m going to apologize before hand; this article is somewhat like my auric sight article. It contains more information that is just simple knowledge than anything that’s “how-to”. At the end though, there is a walkthrough of a simple exercise that will help you to stimulate and transfer energy to all the chakra.
Basically put, the chakra are key points of energy along the spine. They exist in an unseen world (spiritually, preternaturally, supernaturally, etc.) along the spine. Chakra are believed by some to be a major link between body and spirit (the third eye and crown chakra connect body, spirit, and mind). They are known by older texts as the wheels of life and are represented by lotuses with varying numbers of petals. The seven main chakra are color-coded according to the amount of energy storage and size. The representative colors go along with the colors of the color spectrum. The chakra serve as a link between you and the energy of the rest of the cosmos that exists all around you. To consciously activate and control the seven major chakra is considered a large step to reaching true enlightenment.
THE SEVEN CHAKRA AND THEIR CHARACTERISTICS
Here I have listed the seven chakra by original name, their modern and more commonly used names, their color, and the element that represents each.
Sahasrara- this is the Crown chakra. It is the center of all consciousness and the master chakra that controls and regulates the others. It is located at the very top of the head, hence the name crown chakra. It is colored either violet or white depending on the “enlightenment” of the person. The element that represents it is space. The crown chakra is “a link to the divine” and is symbolized by a lotus of a thousand petals.
Ajna- this is the Third Eye chakra. It controls your sense of time, awareness, intuition, and your sensitivity of light in aspects of auric sight and other sensory psionic abilities. It is believed to be the central point that gives the ability humans to perform the “psychic feats” which we speak of on this website. It is indigo in color, represented by the element of time, and symbolized by a two-petal lotus. The third eye chakra is located on the forehead above and between the two physical eyes.
Vishuddha- the Throat chakra. Said to control communication of any form, self-expression, and growth. It is colored blue, represented by the element of life, and is symbolized by a lotus with sixteen petals. Located in the same region as the trachea or voice box along the throat.
Anahata- the Heart chakra. This green chakra governs devotion, love, balance, well-being, and healing. Air is its element. It’s symbolic form is that of a lotus with twelve petals. It’s obvious physical location is within the chest.
Manipura- the Solar Plexus chakra. Resides over your natural abilities of assimilation, digestion, energy, control, freedom, and mental capability. It is yellow and to correspond to this color, elementally it is either fire or the sun. Symbolized by a lotus of ten petals. Physically located within the stomach.
Swadhisthana- the Sacral chakra. Powers your emotions, sexuality, and creativity. The sacral chakra is orange and represented by the element of water. Physically it is located just below the center of the waistline. It is symbolized by a lotus with six petals.
Muladhara- the Root chakra. This chakra is the largest of the chakra and naturally contains more stored energy. It is red and symbolized by a four-petal lotus. It holds the power of your natural instincts, security, survival, and your hidden potential. The root chakra is located at the very base of the spine, more commonly known as the tail bone.
Now, for the how-to part, you’re going to need to be fairly decent at energy manipulation and movement. All the chakra have energy within them to some degree, but when you begin to add more energy into, the lower chakras must fill up first. So, to begin, transfer energy into the root chakra. Try to imagine a large red sphere at the base of your spine that is dull and only slightly active.. As you fill it with energy, visualize it glowing and beginning to pulse and spin. Once you have it as full as it can become, you will feel a strange, warming spread out from your tail bone like a cloud of hot pinpricks. This is due to the fact that it is full and has begun to “flood”.
Continue to send a steady stream of energy into the root chakra, but also, take control of the flooding energy and direct it to the next chakra along the spine; the sacral chakra. Visualize the sacral chakra the same way as the root; an orange orb that appears to be dull and only slightly active. Pour energy into the root chakra and direct the excess energy flooding from the root chakra into the sacral chakra. With enough energy, the sacral chakra will also overflow. This is where this exercise starts to become tricky, which is why it will take concentration and a good control over your energy. You will need to continue to send energy into the root chakra, redirect the energy flooding out of the root chakra into the sacral chakra, and now you must direct the extra energy coming out of the sacral chakra into the solar plexus.
Basically, you will continue doing this same process; flooding the solar plexus, heart, throat, and finally the third eye. Once you have done this, you can stop sending energy into your root chakra and direct all the excess energy through the system up to the third eye. Anything that floods from the third eye you can send back into your core energy supply, or allow it to dissipate on its own.
The reason I stop at the third eye rather than continue to direct the energy into the crown chakra is my own personal feelings and lack of knowledge. I am not entirely sure exactly where at the top of the head the chakra is located. I believe it to obviously be at the crown of the head, but am not absolutely positive. Also, it is the simple fact that stimulating it in such a way is a step away from consciously activating it. To consciously activate it is considered divine and a sign of enlightenment. Since I don’t believe myself divine, I choose not to direct energy into the crown chakra. That, and the simple fact that I somewhat have an apprehension of what doing so may or may not cause.
If you lack this fear that I have of exciting the final of the seven major chakra (and the concentration and skill at energy movement), then continue on until you have finished the process for the seventh chakra.
When you finish, you may want to visualize the seven chakra along the spine glowing and spinning in activity. I usually start with that and imagine them opening into the symbolic lotuses before ending the exercise.
I apologize if you see this as pointless. Stimulating the chakra can be very relaxing and actually make you feel physically better after finishing the exercise above. Other than being a good way to practice both energy manipulation and exciting the chakra at the same time, there isn’t much of a benefit to most people from this. It does give a good, relaxing way to stimulate the seven major chakra in order though. Also, as I said before, you need to be able to control energy fairly well to do this and you will need concentration. If you begin to run out of your own energy while streaming it into the root chakra and redirecting the excess, simply gather more from a source and send that energy into the root chakra.
